Arbitrator Forces Connecticut Police To Rehire Cop Who Took Corpse Photos and Shared With Friends

New London, Connecticut

A New London police officer fired for using his cell phone to take pictures of a dead body and e-mailing them to four friends has won his job back.

The state Board of Mediation and Arbitration issued a decision this week that said while what Officer Jeffrey Nichols did showed poor judgment, it was not a fireable offense and he should be reinstated.

The Day reports that Nichols took the pictures when he responded to a drug overdose at a motel in June 2009.
