Dr. Jack Kevorkian, the audacious Michigan pathologist dubbed “Dr. Death” for his role in assisting the suicides of more than 100 terminally ill people, died early Friday at a Detroit-area hospital after a brief illness.
Kevorkian, 83, died about 2:30 a.m. at William Beaumont Hospital in Michigan.
Sources indicate Kevorkian had been hospitalized since last month with pneumonia and kidney problems. The pathologist suffered a pulmonary thrombosis when a blood clot from his leg broke free and lodged in his heart.
